We are a group of local volunteers that are passionate about improvements to the shoreline in Fort William

The waterfront at Fort William has been cut off from the town due to a catalogue of historical catastrophes.  The train line and then the bypass have all contributed to the result of Fort William becoming the only town in the West Highlands which does not utilise its waterfront.

We want to change this and in particular, our initial aim was to provide a facility in Fort William to allow passengers from cruise ships to access the shore safely and easily.

This was achieved by the installation of the Fort William Pontoons in May 2016 and then we carried out the extension in August 2022 for yachts and small cruiser boats to come alongside.

They are an initial phase towards our ultimate plans of having a permanent facility for cruise ships to berth alongside a quay in order for passengers and crew to gain direct access to the shore.
